William Blake
English poet, painter and printmaker (1757-1827), a precursor figure of British Romanticism. He developed a visionary and intensely personal body of work, inspired by biblical and mythological themes of his own invention. He is remembered both for his poetry and for his illustrations and watercolours of a mystical and visionary character.
