Guido Reni
Italian painter of the seventeenth century, a central figure of Bolognese Baroque classicism, trained at the Carracci academy. He is remembered for his religious and mythological compositions of great formal idealisation, compositional balance and luminous use of colour, which exerted considerable influence on later European painting.
