Blind Man's Buff, also called Recreation after the Collation in a Garden
Jean-Honoré Fragonard, 1770
For now, just to look at
The photograph we have of this work is not sharp enough to print at the quality we want, so we are not selling it for now. We are looking for a better one.

What the museum label doesn't tell you
Even the Louvre can't quite agree on the title: is this 'Blind Man's Bluff' or just 'A Rest After the Picnic'? Fragonard painted so many versions of this scene that the catalogues themselves get tangled. Forget the label and look: she falls backward, eyes wide open, arm reaching out for something unseen, while he leans over the balustrade without quite touching her. Above them, a stone Venus with her cupid watches, unbothered. Children's game or something closer to seduction? The confusion isn't a cataloguing problem, it's the whole point.
