The Last Judgment
Hieronymus Bosch, 1504
For now, just to look at
The photograph we have of this work is not sharp enough to print at the quality we want, so we are not selling it for now. We are looking for a better one.

What the museum label doesn't tell you
Count the sky first: a thin blue strip squeezed against the top edge, as if paradise barely fit into the frame. Everything below devours the rest of the panel — scorched earth, broken stairs, bodies falling endlessly. Bosch doesn't split the Last Judgment evenly: the saved are a tiny cluster hemmed in by angels, while the damned spill into every crevice and tower. One reading sees this as a Judgment where God punishes rather than comforts. What if the real subject here isn't the verdict, but everything that follows it?
