Theodore Robinson
American painter of the nineteenth century, one of the principal figures to introduce Impressionism to the United States following his direct contact with Claude Monet in Giverny. He is remembered for his luminous landscapes and everyday scenes, which adapted the French Impressionist technique to North American sensibility and subject matter.
