Sebastiano del Piombo

Italian Renaissance painter, trained in Venice alongside Giorgione and later active in Rome, where he came under the influence of Michelangelo. He is remembered for his portraits of great psychological depth and for religious works that fuse Venetian colouring with Roman monumentality.
