Quentin Massys
Flemish painter of the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, considered the founder of the Antwerp school of painting. He is remembered for his religious works and portraits, in which he combined the Flemish tradition with influences from the Italian Renaissance, as well as for his attention to detail and psychological characterisation of his sitters.
