Pieter Bruegel the Elder

Pieter Bruegel the Elder was a 16th-century Flemish painter, the most outstanding of his generation in the Low Countries. He is remembered for his scenes of peasant life, landscapes and moral allegories, in which he combined meticulous observation of the society of his time with a critical and symbolic sense.
