Narcisse Diaz de la Peña

French painter of the nineteenth century associated with the Barbizon school. He specialised in wooded landscapes, particularly of the Fontainebleau forest, with loose brushwork and atmospheric effects of light and shadow. His work influenced later painters interested in painting outdoors.
