Mei Qing
Chinese painter of the seventeenth century, active during the transition between the Ming and Qing dynasties. He is remembered for his individualist landscapes, with free brushwork and innovative compositions, which departed from the academic conventions of his time. He was close to the painter Shitao, with whom he shared aesthetic concerns.
