Master of San Francesco
Anonymous Italian painter active in Umbria during the thirteenth century, one of the first to develop a style of his own within Italian painting before Giotto. He is remembered for works linked to the Franciscan cult, characterised by a still Byzantine language with an emerging narrative expressiveness.
