Luca Carlevaris

Italian painter (1663-1730) regarded as a forerunner of Venetian vedutismo, a genre that depicts the urban views of Venice with topographical precision. He is remembered for laying the groundwork later developed by Canaletto and Guardi, combining perspectival rigour with attention to the everyday life of the city.
