Joos van Cleve

Flemish painter (c. 1485–1540/41), active in Antwerp, a leading representative of the early Flemish Renaissance. Known for his portraits and religious compositions of great technical refinement, he also worked for the French court. He is remembered for the delicacy of his brushwork and for religious works that combine the Flemish tradition with Italian influences.
