Jean-Baptiste Pater

French painter of the 18th century, a pupil of Antoine Watteau and cultivator of the fête galante genre. His scenes of rural gatherings and terraces reflect the Rococo taste for elegance and aristocratic leisure. He is considered one of the most direct continuers of Watteau's style.
