Jacob Jordaens
Flemish painter of the seventeenth century, an indirect pupil of Rubens and one of the great figures of Antwerp Baroque alongside him and Van Dyck. He is remembered for his large-format genre scenes, full of popular figures and earthy humour, as well as for his religious and mythological compositions of intense colour.
