Henri-Joseph Harpignies

Henri-Joseph Harpignies was a nineteenth-century French landscape painter, associated with the Barbizon school though with his own long and independent career. He is remembered for his views of French rivers, forests and fields, painted with a refined technique that combines direct observation of nature with classical composition.
