Gwen John

Gwen John was a Welsh painter active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, settled for much of her life in France. She is remembered for her portraits of solitary women and her interiors in soft, restrained tones, works of an introspective character that contrast with the more public output of her brother Augustus John.
