George Romney

English painter of the eighteenth century, one of the most sought-after portraitists of his time alongside Reynolds and Gainsborough. He is remembered for his elegant portraits of the British aristocracy, among them numerous depictions of Emma Hamilton, and for his fluid brushwork and balanced composition.
