Gainsborough Dupont
English painter of the eighteenth century, nephew and sole pupil of Thomas Gainsborough, from whom he learned his craft and whose style he continued after his death. He is remembered for his portraits of the British aristocracy, close in technique to those of his uncle, though of lesser historical recognition.
