Frederic Leighton
British painter and sculptor of the nineteenth century, a leading figure of Victorian academicism and President of the Royal Academy. He is remembered for his compositions inspired by classical and mythological subjects, executed with great technical refinement and a marked interest in the idealised beauty of the human figure.
