Frédéric Bazille
French painter of the nineteenth century, linked to the early Impressionist movement alongside Monet, Renoir, and Sisley, with whom he shared a studio and friendship. He died young, during the Franco-Prussian War, which limited his output. He is remembered for his open-air scenes and portraits of clear execution, forerunners of Impressionist aesthetics.
