François-Marius Granet
French painter of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, associated with Neoclassicism and with landscape and religious interior painting. He spent long periods in Rome, a city that shaped much of his work. He is remembered for his views of cloisters, churches, and Italian landscapes, of intimate atmosphere and restrained light.
