Eugène Boudin
French painter of the nineteenth century, considered a precursor of Impressionism for his scenes of Normandy beaches and skies painted outdoors. He directly influenced Claude Monet, whom he introduced to painting from nature, and is remembered for swiftly capturing the changing effects of light and atmosphere along the coast.
