Dante Gabriel Rossetti

British nineteenth-century painter and poet, co-founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He is remembered for his female portraits charged with symbolism and medievalising aesthetics, inspired by literature and myth. His work left its mark on Victorian painting and poetry with a Romantic, introspective sensibility.
