Correggio
Italian Renaissance painter, active mainly in Parma during the sixteenth century. He is celebrated for his frescoes of architectural illusionism in domes, as well as for his soft treatment of chiaroscuro and light, which influenced the Baroque and painters such as Rubens. His mythological and religious compositions stand out for their sensuality and dynamism.
