Andrea di Vanni

Italian painter (c. 1332-1414) of the Sienese Trecento school, also active as a politician in Siena. He is remembered for his altarpieces and scenes of the Passion of Christ, in a Gothic style influenced by Simone Martini. He corresponded with Saint Catherine of Siena, which attests to his prominence in the city's public life.
