Andrea del Sarto

Italian painter (1486-1530) active in Florence during the High Renaissance, nicknamed 'the faultless painter' for the technical perfection of his drawing and colour. He is remembered for his Holy Families, portraits and frescoes, which influenced Mannerist painters such as Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino, his pupils.
