Alessandro Magnasco

Italian painter of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, active between Genoa and Milan, associated with the late Baroque through a nervous style and loose brushwork. He is remembered for his scenes of monks, beggars and popular settings treated with an unsettling, expressive tone.
